Hand-made pasta isn′t unusual in Florence. Many of the city’s finest eateries pride themselves on their fatti a mano (handmade) dishes. But what makes Tamerò worth a visit is its combination of contemporary décor with an adventurous menu.
Walk through the front door and gaze into the busy kitchen, the venue’s working hub. Pasta is made fresh daily and is also available to take away for locals or those lucky enough to have access to a kitchen.
Beyond fresh pasta, Tamerò offers oven-baked bread (also made daily on-site) and dishes showcasing a wide range of meats and fish with a touch of Florence flair. Save some room for the unforgettable dolce – the fondente al cioccolato has a special ingredient that the waitstaff will divulge if you ask sweetly.

Occupying a building once home to a mechanic’s workshop
Tamerò’s interior retains much of the gritty feel of its previous guise with textured walls, exposed air-conditioning ducts, bespoke graffiti, shelves of books from Edison′s along with metal parts from the old car workshop hanging gracefully on the walls as art. Could we be in New York? Possibly. Are we in Florence? Oh yes.
Live music is hosted Thursday through Saturday, plus daily aperitivo from 7 p.m. In the future, cooking lessons and other regular events are planned. Florence is increasingly hosting new modern spaces to enjoy food and drink, and Tamerò is right on trend. With an edgy venue and menu to match, it′s a vibrant spot for locals and visitors for good food and a memorable night out.
